  Founder's Day 2012

Founder's Day 2012

May 17, 2012 would have been the 100th birthday of Stanley J. Maziuk, founder of our company.

Stanley came from humble beginnings in Stamford, Connecticut. As the oldest of seven children, he needed to find work in his teenage years to help support his siblings. He secured work with Stamford’s largest employer, the Yale and Towne manufacturing company. Early on he proved himself, and was admitted as an apprentice to Yale’s prestigious Bank Lock division.

As the years went on his expertise with safe and vault locks grew. Yale began to send him all over the eastern seaboard as a troubleshooter. While his skills were highly in demand, he tired of the travel, and had the urge to start his own business. In 1943 he left Yale, purchased some equipment and went into business as the Syracuse Safe and Lock Company. With the contacts he had at Yale he was able to secure inventory during times when material was scarce. This quickly evolved the business into wholesale distribution. Eventually the service end of the business was sold, and the name was changed to Maziuk & Co., Inc., d/b/a/ Maziuk Wholesale Distributors.

This month, our maziuk.com specials are offering many items at sale prices of $1.00, $10.00 and $100.00 to commemorate Stanley’s 100th birthday. Watch our Industry News Feed for some counter day events at our various locations. Thanks for participating in our celebration.
